What is it?
Although every child from time to time asks their parents to stay home from school; children with school refusal struggle to go to school on a consistent basis and typically miss at least one day of school a week, or have been moved to home instruction until an appropriate plan is in place. These children are not necessarily oppositional or defiant; in most cases they want to be able to return to school but are simply too anxious to return after an extended period of time away from school.
